Totally forgot to post this from a few weeks ago lol … Experimenting with some guitar effects using the Eventide H9 pedal that I’ve had for years and have never really used 🤷🏻♂️ This thing is awesome!!! I usually don’t track with effects cause of creative control for the mix, but this octave fuzz effect is sweet. Fender 60’s strat, into a Bogner Ecstasy head, H9 pedal in the effects loop, then UA OxBox (my preferred studio guitar rig, for now 😏)…. Well, it’s been a whirlwind year of tours, shows, session’s, studio work, and the last of the holiday performances. Now it’s time for some much needed rest and chill time with family and friend’s….. Wow, what a great weekend at West Shore Community College! Thanks to everyone who made it out to show’s. I can’t tell you how special it is getting to play with this amazing group of musicians/singers, and being involved with a such great program…. Here’s a touching moment from Sat nights show, featuring the Ludington High School Choir and Carly Avery. Though this song came out in the early 70’s, and was about the Vietnam War. These last 5 weeks on tour with Toad The Wet Sprocket has been a total blast! Special thanks to Todd, Neil, and Nate for being great tour mangers, for this tour and over the years. Tour managing is way more than selling merch and driving us around. They have to deal with the promoter, the venue, the sound requirements, the backstage rider, the hotels, meet-and-greets, vip guest’s, and all the other less glorious logistics lol. Without them we’d be a literal 💩 show. Thanks guys for all you do, and making our job seem easy… @thevervepipe @toadthewetsprocket |

New gear alert! One of the cool things about touring, other than the typical “hurry up and wait”, is getting to know all the players and crew from the other bands. You get to hang out for hours on end, chit chat, party, and of course geek out about gear lol… Well, my buddy Pete, who was playing with Five for Fighting, used a Nueral Cortex DSP pedal instead of a guitar amp the entire tour, while I was lugging around my Marshall rig and pedal board. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a real amp and the sound that comes out of a box full of burning tubes and paper speakers in a wooden box, but this pedal is a total game changer. I had my eyes on these since they came out last year, and getting the lowdown from Pete, plus the sound and features, it just blew me away….. Well, I ended up getting one after the tour, and have been using it the last few months at Daybreak church to get a feel for it live. All I can say, this thing is awesome! Now before you guitar guys think I’m looking to get rid of my amps or stomp boxes, I’m not (until I need cash lol)….., but for fly dates, and/or direct to house/in-ear-monitor gigs (which is the typical live stage setup now days), this will be my rig. Literally one guitar and this pedal, that’s a wrap! What a great tour! Can’t say enough about how much fun it was (less my little incident, of course 😒) Almost 3 years of no touring, it felt pretty good to get back out on the road… Met cool new fans, and reconnected with many familiar ones. Everyone was so excited to be at live shows again, the energy was definitely electrifying ⚡️ Five For Fighting killed it every night as well, and were very fun to hang with…. I’m back!!! What a great and warm welcome onto the stage in St Louis last night. So many touching moments 😭 First off, I’d like to thank everyone, from the bottom of my heart, for all the prayers, well wishes, and gifts. I can’t even convey how much that really meant to me these last couple weeks ❤️ I’d also like to thank, my wife Rebecca and father in-law Jim. They literally dropped everything, and drove 7hr’s to pick me up at some small-town hospital in PA, and all the way back to MI to have emergency surgery. Rebecca took complete charge of the situation, and was a great care taker. My ultimate rockstar ⭐️ And of course, I’d like to thank the band and crew, “The Verve Pipe”! These guys and gal stayed with me and comforted me, literally during the worst pain I’ve ever experienced in my life. Believe me, it was not pretty 🤮 It feels so good knowing you have people surrounding you who have your back and best interest at heart…. Finally, a special thanks to my friend Justin, for quickly coming to the rescue and filling in for me. This kid has grown so much as a player, and as an all-around pro musician. I’m very proud of him…. So, many have asked; “What happened?” Well, I’d love to say; “I got into a bar brawl with some drunken ruffians”, and I may end up changing the story to that at some point 😏 Basically, I slipped and fell 🤦♂️ Yes, a total face plant, or more of a chin plant to the pavement (Pavement = 1 / Lou = 0). I ended up breaking my mandible in half and both sides of jaw, which required surgery. I also had some small facial fractures, and chipped a couple teeth. Not fun, and very painful, but could of been much worse, I guess 🙄 Anyway, I have to have my jaw wired shut for a couple weeks. I can’t really talk and/or sing right now. No affiliation with these guys, but this new studio desk from Dangerfox is a total game changer for my setup (checkout the before and after pics)…… Though it literally took months for this to be made, the quality of material, design, and craftsmanship is top notch. I had such a great time playing this show last night @ Listening Room(Lawn)! Thanks to venues and clubs like “Listening Room” who have figured out how to have live entertainment in a socially distant and safe environment. While I’m happy to get out and play here and there, there are many places that are completely shut down and have no way of hosting live events. I think we all need to do our part to continue to support these locally owned establishments, so they are around when things open back up to some sort of normalcy..... |

Recording a new tune, and discovered the loop feature on my Strymon Timeline pedal! (I guess I can loop now too......😏) Thought I’d mess around with some Strymon Mobius factory presets as well (you know, just cause) 😎 Really looking forward to giving these pedals a work out at the “new” Listening Room (Grand Rapids, MI) w/The Verve Pipe- Nov 29th and 30th...... Happy to announce a new artist endorsement deal with, “PedalSnake”!!! PedalSnake, has created a new guitar pedal board cable system, that rids the need of multiple guitar chords going to-and-from the pedal board to the amplifier, and they’ve figured out a way to run the power to the pedals in the same cable line. Just received my credentials for this Sunday’s “TVP trio” show at NASCAR (MI International Speedway)! What a great way to get back into the swing of things; car’s racing in circles and exhaust fumes 🤔 Really hoping those pit guys can fit in an oil change and tire rotation on my mini van during our set, cause I’m not sure I wanna stick around for the entire race 😎 |

Are you ready for the last weekend of summer!? Well me neither ☹️, but one thing that'll take the sting out of it is rockin' out to a live show this Sat night @ Bells Brewery (Kalamazoo, MI) in a huge beer garden 💃🏼🕺🏻We had such a fantastic time playing there last year, that we have some surprises planned to take it up a notch (and it's not just my amp volume 😏). A few tickets still available..... Back in the trusty sprinter van for a 1800 mile, five day/five show east coast tour w/The Verve Pipe...... Really looking forward to reconnecting with my band mates 🤗 Like; complete silence the entire trip, no one talking to each other, smelling everyone's stench day in/day out, making pit stop's every 50 miles for Channing, watching everyone unsuccessfully try to eat healthy, explaining to Joel that turkey cold cuts aren't part of his vegan diet, hoping Sam changes his clothes at least every other day, praying Wheeler doesn't slam a two liter bottle of Mountain Dew at midnight, reminding Randall what day it is over and over, stopping Brad from being too enthusiastic (he's new), showing concern when Brian says we're losing money again, not freaking out when we think we've forgotten Griff somewhere (he's not even with us on this run)🤦♂️
Oh well, at least we're playing some pretty cool venues, and I can finally get caught up on my reading and deciphering my deep inner thoughts 🎉

Orlando, here we come! Ready to rock the "Hard Rock Hotel/Velvet Sessions" (Orlando, FL) - tonight @ 6:30pm..... Then on Sunday, we're back in MI to play a FREE show at Bronson Park (Kalamazoo, MI) -4pm. Bring the entire family for this one, as we perform a mix of our kids tunes and the rock hits.....

Easy in, easy out! Fly out to a show, do a couple radio/mag interviews, play 6 songs to a packed house and awesome crowd, head to the hotel for a night cap, early am flight back home, on the couch by 10am 😁 btw; should of been 7 songs, but the opening band played the same cover song as we were planning on doing 🤗

Though I didn't have any alien contact nor get to investigate any "hot spots" in Roswell, NM. I did get to hear a few story's from the locals, in particular a guy that looked just like Drew Carey 🤔 Oh, and I didn't have to use this piece on anything 👾 All the shows were fun and the fans were incredible. Hope to get out that way again real soon… |

"Area 51" here we come! Well not really, but fun to imagine 😎 Actually, flying out to Roswell, NM w/The Verve Pipe to play some shows and check out the sites 👀 For the trip, I've decided to go as "Mulder" (The X-Files), and think it's fitting that Channing be "Scully". Brian can be "Skinner" 🤣

Hey friends, this Wednesday night I'll be joining some of the best musicians in West MI at The Intersection (Grand Rapids, MI), for a Prince Tribute concert. This happened last year as well, and it turned out to be an epic night. Come down and enjoy the Prince classics as much as we do......
